Mark Burtman On the Tournament Trail
with Dr. Mark Burtman

If you have been reading my articles then you know that I am an amateur poker player, trying to make it big in tournament poker. 2001 was my first year playing major tournaments. Though it was an exciting time with some big money finishes, I am not ready to quit my day job as a full time Obstetrician and Gynecologist.

2003 will be my third year on the tournament trail and I hope to use what I have learned in the last two years to play a more consistent and successful style of tournament poker. My plan is to pick a tournament every one to two months and play several events. PokerPages and I are inviting you to join me through my successes and failures, as long as the money holds up.

I hope to let you know how the action is both in the tournaments as well as in the satellites and side action. As usual, you'll hear it from the outlook of an amateur as opposed to a seasoned professional.

If you're a fellow nonprofessional, you'll get a sense of what it's like to be there and to take a stab at poker glory. Maybe then you'll decide that it's time for you too to get out there and take a shot at it.
