He grew up wanting to become a medical doctor, started playing poker at the age of 13, and eventually dropped out of college to play full time. Michael Mizrachi's biggest win to date was first place in the LA Poker Classic / WPT Event Season 3 (Feb. 2005), where he was victorious in the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em Main event - worth $1,859,909 in prize money.

Poker seems to run in the Mizrachi family; His brother, Robert, is also quite successful and has several in-the-money tournament finishes. Mizrachi is known as "The Grinder" for his solid consistent playing style, which isn't flashy, but which seems to win the money more often than not.
