Two Nov. Nine Members and One Parent Make WSOPE Final Table

The WSOPE Main Event final table leaves little doubt that poker is a game of skill. Two members of the November Nine, James Akenhead and Antoine Saout, proved that their deep runs in the WSOP Main Event were no fluke. Both players earned spots at the London final table and another chance to see each other in action before they play for even higher stakes in Las Vegas next month. Another player to make the WSOPE final table, Barry Shulman, will be observing Akenhead and Saout closely. He'll want to pass on what he learns to his son, November Nine member Jeff Shulman. Six More Bank Accounts Seized by Maryland Feds- Related to Bodog

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) website just posted a link to a Baltimore CityPaper article (shown below) reporting that Maryland's federal authorities have seized six more bank accounts held by a company called Forshay Enterprises, Inc., alleging that the accounts hold gambling proceeds involved in money laundering. The article speculates that the charges may be related to Bodog, who offers online poker and sports betting to U.S. customers.

World Series of Poker Europe's Main Event Hits the Money

Day 3 of the WSOPE's Main Event ended with the bursting of the money bubble, meaning the remaining 36 players will all turn a profit. After shelling out 10,000 GBP to enter the event, they are each guaranteed a minimum cash of 21,142 GBP. The winner takes home a cool 801,603 GBP, equivalent to over 1.2 million USD.

This past week, four more Congressional representatives signed as co-sponsors to Barney Frank's Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (H.R. 2267), the bill to license and regulate online Poker and Internet Gambling for US residents.

PokerStars Sets New Guinness World Record for Poker Again

PokerStars.com, the world's largest online poker site, has shattered its own Guinness World Record for hosting 'THE MOST PLAYERS AT AN INTERNET POKER ROOM' at an online tournament held Sunday September 6, 2009. They recorded 307,016 players at 42,814 tables playing online poker simultaneously. This passed their old record by over 100,000 players.

British on Top after Day 2 of World Series of Poker Europe Main Event

More than 175 players began Day 2 of the WSOPE's Main Event, but only 92 lasted through the night. Ian Munz, a resident of London, ended the day as the dominant chip leader. Entraction Ends Boss Media-IPN Contract, Cardroom2 to Close

Yesterday, Sweden's Entraction Holding AB (formerly known as 24hPoker) said it has terminated its contract with Boss Media's International Poker Network (IPN), and will be closing down its Cardroom2 online poker room by the end of this year, reports Gaming Intelligence. Entraction will continue to operate its online poker site.

Team Europe Wins 1st Caesars Cup- Poker's Answer to Golf's Ryder Cup

The 2009 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) just hosted the first-ever Caesars Cup, at Casino at the Empire, in Leicester Square, Central London. Players on two teams -- Europe versus The Americas -- played a series of heads-up matches to determine which team would win bragging rights and the first Caesars Cup trophy. Team Europe bested Team Americas by a 4 to 1 margin.

World Series of Poker Contracts Renewed with IMG & ESPN

Harrah's Interactive Entertainment (HIE) announced that the contract to expand their World Series of Poker (WSOP) brand with IMG Sports and Entertainment will be renewed for five more years, through 2014. Since 2005, IMG has helped bring major non-gambling sponsors such as Jack Link's Beef Jerky and Planters Peanuts to the world's largest poker event, the WSOP.

WSOPE Main Event Continues with Day 1B

The Main Event of the World Series of Poker Europe continued on Sunday at London's Empire Casino. On the second of two starting days, 178 players joined the previous day's 156 entrants in paying 10,000 GBP for a shot at the WSOPE's fourth and final bracelet of 2009.
