WPT Legends of Poker Main Event Begins August 22nd Only a few days after the curtain closed (temporarily, at least) on the 2009 World Series of Poker, players were already back at the tournament felt to begin Season VIII of the World Poker Tour. Alexandre Gomes kicked things off with a win at the Bellagio Cup at the end of July, and the jury is still out on who will take home the second title of the season. When the Legends of Poker Main Event at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, CA begins on August 22nd, the world's toughest players will pony up $10,000 in an attempt to capture a bit of TV time, a coveted title, and a first prize worth more than $1,000,000. Unusual for a WPT, this year's event only has one starting day, so for your chance at poker immortality, make sure you arrive ready to play on Saturday the 22nd. The five-day event will play to a winner at the televised final table on August 26th. The temperature in Los Angeles has already risen a few degrees with some heated action at the Legends of Poker preliminaries. See the complete schedule and results here. |
