Isaac Baron Dominates Caesars Classic Main Event

Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron ran over the final table of the Caesars Palace Classic $5,000 Main Event, amassing a huge chip lead and going home with the $246,928 first prize. It took two long days to narrow the 162-person field to the final ten. A very high percentage of the entrants were recognizable tournament circuit players, and unsurprisingly, the stacked field produced a tough final table lineup.

Chris Bjorin, fresh from the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event final table, finished in 10th place. Pro Mark Ketteringham busted in 9th, followed by one of poker's most accomplished women, Kathy Liebert, in 8th.

The game-changing hand of the night occurred seven-handed. Glen Chorny, Theo Tran, and Isaac Baron were involved in a cataclysmic three-way all in. Chorny showed pocket Tens to Baron's pocket 9s and Tran's AK. Baron spiked a straight on the river to win the pot, take an enormous chip lead, and eliminate Theo Tran in 7th place.

Erik Nomberg finished in 6th, and Jimmy Tran busted in 5th. In another huge hand, friends Alex Keating and Baron got it all in on a Q Q 4 flop, and Baron's AQ held up to beat Keating's Q9. The cooler sent a disappointed Keating home in 4th place and left Baron with about 80% of the chips in play.

Glen Chorny was eliminated soon after in 3rd place, leaving Baron and Michael Benvenuti heads up. At a huge chip disadvantage, Benvenuti looked good to double up with A9 vs. Baron's A7, but a 7 on the flop was enough to end the match and ship the victory to Baron. Benvenuti had to settle for 2nd place and $129,562.
