| BARBARA SCHWARTZ TAKES THE 7-CARD STUD HI-LO CROWN!
The New England Poker Classic 2005 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Championship Final
was a battle to the finish between the final table chip leaders. Barbara Schwartz
of Bayside, NY, emerged as the victor but not before surviving an all-in. Barbara
took home $29,070 for the victory over Noli Franciso, West New York, NJ, who
won $15,300 for his efforts.
Tom "Mark'em Down" Noyes, Clarks Summit, PA, was at his second
final table of the week and hoping for his second victory. However, that was
not to be the case, as he was the first to go out. He had pocket A's and could not improve
as Noli had 8's full of deuces. Barbara eliminated Joseph Bove of Dayville,
CT, with Q's when he could not get a second pair or catch a low.
Paul Peterson, Larchmont, NY, scrapped his way to sixth place by winning two
all-ins; the third time was not a charm when Ross "The Rocket" Mallor
showed a five card flush. Robey Rossi, Needham, MA, also had a problem with
"the Rocket" whose J's and 8's topped Robey's pocket
A's. Ron Schiffman of Cherry Hill, NJ, put up a stiff fight to finish fourth.
At one point, he had Barbara on the ropes but she scooped the pot with an 85
low to his 87 and a pair of 9's.
After going all-in against Noli and surviving, Ron's second confrontation
with Barbara left him with fourth place money of $6,502 when she hit a flush
in five. Ross "The Rocket" Mallor, Whitestone, NY, maintained his
final table starting position with his third place finish. Going for the low,
he could only catch a pair of 5's and lost to 7's.
Barbara and Noli entered heads up competition with virtually even stacks. She
quickly built a commanding lead with K's and Q's to his 10's
and 2's and a river flush. As noted above, Barbara had come all the way back from an all-in and,
in the final hand, she had trip 6's to Noli's two pair. Barbara was
rewarded with the trophy, jacket and $29,070!
