JOANNE DORIN ROLLS TO VICTORY! TOP PRIZE IS $185,425! Joanne Dorin began the final table as the chip leader and never relinquished her lead as she rolled to victory in the 2007 Foxwoods Poker Classic $1200 No-Limit Hold'em Championship. Along the way she eliminated 5 of her competitors including the last 4 at the table. A record number of 545 players began on Friday and 24 returned at 1pm on Saturday to compete for the remainder of the $584,425 prize pool. The final table began at 4:30 pm and when it was over 4 hours later, Joanne, resident of Medina, NY, was the winner of the Championship trophy, commemorative jacket and $184,387! Michael Vela of New Windsor, NY, was at his second final table of the 2007 FPC. He could not improve on his finish in the $600 No-Limit as, once again, he was in 10th place. He was all-in with pocket 4's and Charbel Azzi called with pocket J's. Mike flopped a set but the rest of the board was 10c7c9c8c to give Charbel a straight flush. Mike collected $9,059 for his efforts. Troy LaPointe had pocket 9's and was ahead of Curtis Nunes's AK. The Kc and 5 clubs on the board gave Curtis the hand and left Troy in 9th position. Troy would return home to Hartford, CT, with $11,688. Korte Yeo of Shrewsbury, MA, bet 65K with pocket 8's and then called Steve Fiorentini's all-in for 218K. Steve had AK and a K on the flop relegated Korte to 8th place good for $14,611. Metheun, MA, resident, Charbel Azzi, in the big blind, was all-in after Joanne's 60K bet. Joanne took her time before calling and turning over pocket J's. With no help from the board, Charbel's pocket 3's left him with 7th place money of $17,533. Curtis Nunes of North Dartmouth, MA, saw his stack whittled down until he was all-in for his last 52K with K2. Jason Ruotolo turned over AK. The flush Jason hit on the river was overkill and Curtis took home $20,455. Michael Perry was surprise story of the final table as he survived all-ins and fought his way from the short stack to 5th place. He had doubled up two hands in a row with pocket A's but when he went all-in with KJ, Joanne turned over pocket 10's which held up. Mike, a resident of Oakland, ME, would collect a hard-fought $26,299. With 4 players remaining, Joanne was the chip leader by far. She proceeded to eliminate her opponents one by one. Tom Cope of Westport, CT, had pocket 9's but Joanne paired a Q and Tom was in 4th place, collecting $35,065. Steve Fiorentini lost a good portion of his stack with AK to Jason's AJ when two J's appeared on the flop. Steve was all-in for his last 65K with pocket 7's; Joanne, with QJ, paired a Q on the flop and Steve would return to Lexington, MA with $52,598 for 3rd place. Entering heads-up action, Joanne had a 4 to 1 chip advantage which she inexorably increased until Jason Ruotolo was finally all-in. Jason, a resident of Smithfield, RI, turned over A8. Joanne had A9, but Jason was hopeful to continue when an 8 came on the flop; his hopes were dashed when a the river was a 9. The agony of defeat would be eased by a payday of $93,508! And Joanne Dorin had conquered all to become the 2007 FPC $1200 No-Limit Champion!
