Tournament Report

H.O.R.S.E.

The 2009 Winnin' O' the Green series H.O.R.S.E. event attracted 144 players who paid $300+$35 and created a $41,904 prize pool with $15,504 going to first place. It would take about 12 hours just to get to the final table of eight players. Play at the final table began at 4:15am with Razz (1k ante, 2k bring-in, playing 8k/16k).

RAZZ: It took six hands when a four-way pot developed which left 3 players to the river. Randy Holland was all-in with A-3-9 (10-8) and saw he was drawing dead against Marshall Rigir's A-7-2 (3-5) with 2 cards to come. Marshall added 5-K and Randy mucked his hand. Randy Holland finished in 8th place for $1,050.

RAZZ: Just two hands later Ken Loney was all-in against Melkon Karapogosian. Ken held (A-7) 5-A-8-8 (Q) for a Queen low and was beaten by Melkon's 9 low. Ken was eliminated in 7th place and took home $1,255.

RAZZ: On hand #10 Harry Danielyan had all his chips in the middle on 4th street against chip leader Melkon Karapogosian. Harry had (10-4) 5-7-9-9 (X) for a 10-9 low and Melkon held (A-5) J-8-4-2 (X) for an 8-5 low. Melkon eliminated Harry Danielyan in 6th place for $1,675.

7-CARD STUD: On hand #12 Abraham Laveaga was all-in against Melkon 'The Terminator'. Abraham held (A-8) 2-8-2-K (9) for two pair eights & deuces but Melkon had (J-7) 4-J-10-4 (9) for two pair Jacks & fours. Abraham Laveaga finished in 5th place and earned $2,095. Melkon had knocked out 3 in-a-row and had a dominant chip lead.

HOLD'EM: After 28 more hands of Stud & Stud H/L and the chips being passed around, the game switched to Hold'em and on the first hand of this new game Roberto Flood had Danny Geyser all-in. Roberto showed K-J and Danny held Q-7. The board was A-A-4-J-7. Both players hit a pair but Roberto's Jacks would take the pot. Danny Geyser was eliminated in 4th place and earned $2,515.

About 25 more hands were played (all Hold'em) before the players discussed a deal. A deal was made without the need for a chip count and Melkon Karapogosian held the significant chip lead and was declared the winner just after 6am.
